The confirmed starting point
The September developer letter adds Umbral encounters to the launch changes. It does not provide a complete species list, a numeric encounter probability or a guaranteed farming route in the reviewed announcement.
That is enough to prepare a collection goal, but not enough to promise a specific number of runs.
Potential is not a finished build
Do not turn the phrase “Perfect Potential” into a promise that every Umbral will be your strongest possible teammate. A useful comparison would also need the creature’s actual role, skills, training and the task you need it to perform.
Before replacing a companion, compare what your current team does well with what the new creature changes. Our profiles show the role attached to the specific official form; they are not a universal tier list.
Build a useful encounter note
If you encounter an Umbral, record the species, displayed form label, area, visible event, weather and time. Note whether you were inside a Wild Surge or simply exploring. A screenshot showing the form or potential screen is more useful than a recollection of its color.
The planner stores those observations only in your browser. It does not upload them to a public database, and marking a box does not verify the underlying game rule.
A note on similar-looking labels
Some official index pages expose a separate label spelled “Umbrabow.” We have not established that every use of that label is equivalent to the developer letter’s “Umbral.” We do not silently merge the terms or copy acquisition rules from one to the other.
